If we just start to think about everything we do and everything we buy to make sure that at lease 10% or what makes it up is an American company we will start to grow again. The new design of this page has a really clean look and the motion of the graphic elements is clean smooth and exacting. The shadows and transparent layers really play well. A few years ago we would have built this in flash to get anything close to that, and the transitions would not have been a clean and smooth as the transitions being used in this jQuere. It seems that plane old code wins out again. In the long run after being a flash designer I now find it more challenging to try to work with these type of libraries and get them to work on all browsers and devices.

If you have HBO you need to check out HBO Go for your iPhone/iPad. Very cool, able to view all past shows, very much like HULU+. Free with having HBO. Gotta say it looks nice. I just put it on my iPad and the picture is awesome. I am actually watching a series while typing this post. It is like HBO on demand for my devices. If I want to sit outside or hang out around my wifi. I dare not try it over 3G as I am sure it will chew up my 2GB in one movie. Really have to say that HBO has done something right for all of the $$ I spend on that service.

The use of color sets the tone for a design. Choosing the right set of colors to convey a feeling or a style can be the difference of good and just OK design. One of the toughest battles can be the right set of colors to express a feeling. Color selection in design is a challenge for young designers, even senior designers often fall into a pit of trying to pick the right colors and combinations for a project. This problem seems insignificant, but in actuality it is quite possibly the most important factor in a web design or print or media.
Color can be a touchy subject or a source of frustration because it can be hard to convey or choose. Sometimes designers use colors that evoke certain emotions. Other times they use colors simply because they like the way they look or the feeling they give. While any designer with an eye can tell you that color works best with other colors that balance and play off of each other to create depth and balance in a design. In my personal opinion, color always has meaning. This meaning can be an emotion or it can be a personal preference on the part of the designer but it has purpose and meaning behind the selection. I find that picking a color and the looking at shades that balance that color help me build combinations that work.
